Are You Struggling With Oily Hair?

Oily hair and scalp can be extremely frustrating as well as embarrassing. There are a few reasons why your scalp could producing more oil than normal, and here are some things to consider and that will help relieve the issue. I have broken it down to 8 tips for you to focus on.

1) Wash hair less often. Over washing could trigger over production of those oils.

2) Wash more often. To avoid build up of the oils on your scalp.

For example, remove a day or add a day in your wash cycle for two weeks and then assess your scalp. You may need to add or take away another day for an additional two weeks to find your happy place.

3) Use products with high quality ingredients. Products that are loaded with oils, polymers, and silicones can leave a residue and create a buildup at the scalp.

You want to reach for a detox shampoo to help remove buildup on your scalp. If you find that you need to wash your hair hair everyday I suggest that you use a gentle cleansing wash that is formulated for daily use. detox once a week or once every two weeks.4) You could be using your products incorrectly. Be careful not to apply products near or at the scalp. Use a small amount of products in your hair.

5) Clean your brush regularly. The bacteria, dirt and products that are left on your brush will transfer back on your scalp.

Remove the hair and be sure to clean your brush every seven to ten days. I reccomend you mix a teaspoon of shampoo with a teaspoon of baking soda and add warm water. Soak for at least ten minutes. Use an old toothbrush to spread the mixture between the bristles to remove the grit and grime. Finally blot with a clean towel to dry.

6) Touching your hair too much. We transfer the natural oils and dirt from our skin to our hair and scalp.

7) Dirty linens can also add to the issue. Change or wash sheets and pillow cases once a week.

8) You may be deficient in B vitamins. Specifically Vitamin B2 and B6 which helps regulate sebum production. Let’s face it, health issues and our diet are strongly connected to hair health.

I hope these tips help you find relief from oily scalp. I would alsoencourage you to come in for a scalp facial once a month to keep your scalp at its optimal health.
